T'is the season
Even though this blog is to talk about our name jewelry I have yet to create another blog for our African fair trade bead and wire art.
Now that the holiday season approaches I wanted to show off a few of our amazing beaded Christmas ornaments and beaded Christmas trees. Also, you've just got to see this amazing beaded Santa Claus! he is 12" tall and makes an amazing centerpiece!

I'd like to kick off my Carrie necklace blog with a brief history of name necklaces or nameplate necklaces, as they are often referred, as was told to me by one of the foremost name necklace jewelers.
Back in the early 1950's a silver/goldsmith, a Tunisian immigrant living in Jerusalem, and from a long line of famous silversmiths, was approached by a young seminary student from the US. Her seminary was near his place of work and she wanted to bring back a few gifts for family and friends. I am not sure who suggested it but he ended up writing a name on a piece of silver, cut it out and turned it into a necklace!
From then the name necklace became popular on and off from the 1960's and has always been popular among religious Jewish girls.
Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) revived the name necklace when she began wearing her Carrie necklace on Sex & the City and since then name necklaces have been hot!
Today there are numerous styles and are even made in many languages. In addition, name rings, name bracelets and name earrings have become popular as well. Similarily initial necklaces and monogram necklaces have been a big hit.
